Introduction to Academic Writing In-Person
This introductory workshop to academic writing is aimed at students who are new to academic writing or wish to refresh themselves on the basic conventions. It is particularly useful for those students who do not have English as a first language or are new to academic writing in English before. This workshop can be completed as preparation for the more demanding Advanced Academic Writing workshop.
The workshop aims to explore the basic conventions of academic writing, different genres of writing at the University of Bolton (e.g. Essay and report writing) and associated aspects of organisation, such as sentence structure, paragraphs, introductions, the main-body and conclusions. The workshop will also explore language used in academic writing and basic signposting techniques for improving cohesion.
