Effective research with Scopus

Effective research with Scopus Online

This online session introduces Scopus as a tool for research students and researchers who need access to the latest relevant research. It is aimed at beginners and intermediate users.

Developed by Elsevier, Scopus is one of the world’s largest abstract and citation databases of peer-reviewed literature, including 25,300+ scientific journals, 231,000+ books and conference proceedings from over 5000 publishers. Scopus covers research topics across all scientific and technical disciplines, ranging from medicine and social sciences to arts and humanities.

A live demonstration will show how Scopus can be used and some of the key benefits of its use.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  1. Use advanced search to conduct in-depth literature searches and find relevant information
  2. Analyse and track research trends to make connections within or across disciplines and identify new research areas and potential collaborators
  3. See the main journals and most prolific authors in your area of interest informing your own decisions about where to submit manuscripts for publication
  4. Use bibliometrics to measure research output and discover the overall impact of publications in a research area
  5. Find resources of further help if problems are encountered

Presented by Michaela Kurschildgen, Customer Consultant at Elsevier
